How to get better at logic puzzles

  • Look for the forced move. Every one of these puzzles has a square, digit or word that can only go one place. Find it before you guess anything.
  • Work from the tightest spot. The smallest region, the shortest word or the row with the most clues usually gives way first.
  • Rule things out. Marking where something can’t go is often faster than working out where it must go.
  • Read the solution afterwards. Each answer page explains the reason behind every move, which is the quickest way to pick up new techniques.
